Students assemble the LEWIS sensor and tracked the train's movement on the train to Santa Fe!
Friday, a group of 24 students, alongside mentors from SMILab at the University of New Mexico, engaged in an enriching activity. The railrunner took them on a journey to Santa Fe, where they not only learned how to construct the LEWIS sensor but also had the chance to measure the train's movement firsthand. This exceptional experience not only exposed the students to cutting-edge technologies but also equipped them with invaluable skills that hold great potential for the future of the railroad industry. By participating in this activity, these students took a step towards cultivating promising careers as mid-century railroaders.
